Roof Alternatives

        

    Structural composites have replaced wood in step ladders and extension ladders.  Structural composites are used for private aircraft and jet fighter aircraft wings and bodies.  Using composites roof rafters and trusses can be replaced with superior materials with higher performance characteristics at a cost competitive price.

    Composite trusses can span wide distances.  A 28-foot composite truss weights 100 pounds and can be placed by 2~3 men without requiring cranes.  Trusses are fastened with steel plates and stainless steel screws.  Because of the high strength to weight ratio, wide open spans are possible without internal wall supports enabling freedom of design.

Easy Assembly

    Composite roof trusses and rafters fit into saddles screwed to the top plate.  Rafters and trusses are set into the saddles and all attachment is done using screw guns and eliminating dangerous nail guns from the building site.  Composite trusses are braced and sheeted with common materials.  Rafters are set and insulation panels lowered into position between them. 

    All types of roofing is adaptable to composite building methods.  Barn rafters and trusses on wide centers can be bridged with perlins and sheeted in all the standard finishing methods and materials.  Rafters can be fitted with tie bars to create cathedral spaces.

Great Insulation Ability

    Pre built insulation panels are lowered between rafters and finished with commonly used asphalt, metal, or clay tile shingles.  Fireproof closed cell foam insulation can be specified with insulation values up to R-40 in a 6-inch thickness.
